Democracy is not a status quo, but a constantly changing process that has to recognize and serve social change. Under this premise, KAS Namibia-Angola held a public panel discussion and book presentation with the title "Democracy 2030: The future of Namibian democracy", which took place on 05.10.2017 at the NamPower Convention Center in Windhoek. Topics discussed at the event included increasing digitization and the opportunities and challenges that accompanied it, as well as the importance of youth participation in the democratic process. The panel included Theo Mujoro of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), Gerson Tjihenuna as representative of the Namibian Parliament, Nashilongo Gervasius of the Internet Society: Namibian Chapter, Emma Theofelus as representative of the Youth Parliament and Michael Hasheela as representative of the Namibian youth and civil society.

The event also served to officially introduce the new publication "Democracy 2030" to the public. The book was published together with the Namibian Parliament and is a summary of the "International Day of Democracy", which was officially celebrated in September last year in parliament. The publication deals with topics such as online voting, voting machines, crowd sourced laws or decentralization. The event was attended by participants of all ages who, together with the panelists, engaged in a dedicated and forward-looking discussion.
