In many communities, local government unit competitiveness is not felt through distant and abstract indices or awards, but in whether decent jobs close to home are available, whether starting and sustaining a business is manageable, whether roads, transport, water, internet, and drainage are reliable, and whether local government services are speedy, fair, and predictable.
The conference begins with a simple yet urgent question. How can local governments become more competitive in ways that make everyday life more workable, affordable, inclusive, and opportunity-rich for the Filipino?
