On 06 December, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Philippines office held its annual Partners’ Meeting. The event was an opportunity to also bid farewell to the current KAS Country Director, Mr. Benedikt Seemann. After his 3.5 years as head of the KAS Philippines office, he will be succeeded by Mr. Wolfgang Hruschka.
Peace, democracy and development - these are the underlying objectives of the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation and its project partners in the Philippines for more than 50 years. The annual meeting of the partner organizations provided an opportunity for intensive exchanges on the political situation in general and the progress of the joint projects. The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung works together with civil society organizations, institutes and universities. It regularly offers support to various political parties and government agencies in the contemporary reform process.
In this occasion, Mr. Benedikt Seemann was given a warm farewell after 3.5 years of being the director of the KAS Philippines. He will be succeeded by Mr. Wolfgang Hruschka, who will be heading both KAS offices in Malaysia and the Philippines in the coming months. In the presence of numerous Filipino guests from the various sectors of politics, business, science as well as several embassies and other German organizations in the country, Seemann thanked for the trusting cooperation of all the partners. Seemann stressed that the Philippines is in a time of upheaval. This is associated with great challenges, but at the same time offers the opportunity to initiate sustainable reforms. Jonathan Malaya, Assistant Secretary at the Department of Interior and Local Government, in his welcome remarks expressed his gratitude to the KAS for continued cooperation with the Philippines. He further highlighted that the help of the KAS is deemed exceptionally valuable, especially in the constitutional reform process and the planned federalization of the country.
