During the 28th edition of the Anabtawi Regional Training Course on Human Rights, 28 participants from Jordan, Sudan, Iraq, Kuwait, Morocco, Yemen, Tunisia, Syria, Oman, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Djibouti and Mauretania came together from the 27th of September to the 7th of October in Hammamet, Tunisia, to attend a one-week training on individual rights and human dignity. prior to this, 89 activists participated in a three-month long online training on human rights.
The participants received an overview of the state of play for individual rights in the Arab region, the basics of the international human rights system and international conventions on individual rights. Workshop sessions also dealt with human trafficking as a threat to human dignity and touched on the issue of digital protection.
The group was trained by renowned Tunisian professors and country directors of the AIHR network from Morocco and Lebanon. A special focus was set on the role of civil society organizations and national institutions in cooperatively protecting individual rights and freedoms.
