Sudan and Libya: Geopolitics and Conflict Linkages

Online roundtable, 25 March 2021

The Regional Program Political Dialogue South Mediterranean of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in collaboration with the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime organised an online closed roundtable discussion entitled “Sudan and Libya: Geopolitics and Conflict Linkages” which was held on ZOOM on 25th March 2021.

The virtual event opened a discussion about the role of Sudanese and Chadian mercenaries and their impact on Libya and the dynamics and challenges related to Sudan’s policies and involvement in the Libyan conflict. The experts tackled the topics below:

  • The impact of Libya’s conflict on Sudan’s transition
  • The impact of Sudanese mercenaries on the Libyan conflict
  • The dynamics around Chadian mercenaries and their return to Central Sahara

The webinar adopted a conversational format to allow a flow and reactive discussion about the subject matter.

The event was concluded by a Q&A session to enable the participants to ask and interact with the experts.
