Details

The conference addresses a range of strategic issues and recent developments, which are of mutual interest to stakeholders from Europe, the Levant and the Gulf.

Since the beginning of the upheavals in the Arab World, the Levant and Egypt have formed one of the main grounds of continuous turmoil and ongoing political changes. Reacting to these transformations, Europe and the Gulf states have grasped the opportunities and challenges evolving from these changes. This has led to a significant reconsideration of their strategies in the region. Here, the recently negotiated deal between Iran and the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany (P5+1) and the possibility of a continuing rapprochement between Iran and the West will further impact the rethinking of strategies by all key actors involved.

In this framework, the Regional Programme Gulf States and the Amman Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung are organising a conference to discuss the regional changes and their impact on strategic interests in the Gulf and Europe. The event is aimed at offering a ground for discussion and exchange among a distinguished group of academics, experts, and decision-makers from Europe, the Levant and the Gulf. We are seeking a high-level discussion leading to constructive dialogue and sustainable policy recommendations.
