Media Dialogue 8:
The Environmental Challenges under Thailand’s Constitutions: Progress and Setbacks
Facebook Live from SEA-Junction |Thursday, November 24, 2020 | 16:30 – 19:00 (BKK Time)
People’s right to the resources and environment has been firmly addressed under the constitutions for several years already. In spite this acknowledgement, the lack of legal mechanism makes this is hardly enforceable also causes some loopholes to draw the attempt backward. When the society is calling for the amendment of the 2017 constitution, here is the right time for all parties to scrutinize the progress and setbacks regarding the legislative issues toward the protection of resources and environment, and find the best way to ensure the interests of the people and the country.
The news agency Bangkok Tribune, supported by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, is organizing an online conference to discuss the environmental challenges under the Thai constitutions and what ought to be done regarding the legislation. This is meant to search for mutual solutions in order to respond to people’s needs and achieve environmental goals at the same time.
This conference is the eighth of a series of Media Dialogues on current Thai, regional, and global developments organized by the Bangkok Tribune and the KAS. It will take place on Tuesday, November 24 at 16:30 onward (Bangkok Time) at SEA-Junction, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). Facebook Live from the venue will start at 16:55 and the conference will be conducted in Thai language.
To participate in the conference, please send an email to Thasuthida.thetthong@kas.de. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the conference either online or at the venue (in accordance with social distancing measures), and how to take part in the Q&A sessions with the panelists.
