Revisiting the Democracy vs Development Debate

KAS continues to support scholars from Uganda and South Sudan in order to build and nurture future leaders to become positive drivers of change in their communities and countries. This is in collaboration with Uganda martyrs University, Nkoz.




The Lira debate will be second in the 2016 series will seek to evaluate youth engagement in the 2016 polls as well as identify and document strategies for a more constructive and sustained youth political engagement beyond elections.

Elected women leaders in Pallisa and Apac will be trained on how to represent women issues in their respective offices

Launching a Platform for Political Leadership Advancement for South Sudanese Youth

During the inaugural workshop held in Juba on 13th & 14th of February 2020, the political leadership advancement training brought together 30 youth who have demonstrated leadership potentials through previous volunteer engagements and professional work and are interested in furthering their leadership skills and political competencies which will allow them to actively take part in political leadership and civic processes.

Together with the Directorate of National Guidance (DNG) we hosted a two days training for district leaders in Lira in order to promote political pluralism and stronger collaboration among the appointed and elected leaders at the local government level.

The Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung, LéO Africa Institute and Stanbic Bank are therefore bringing together young and aspiring thinkers of a new generation. Already in its third year, the Young and Emerging Leaders Project (YELP) brings together over 30 change makers in various fields to reflect and learn more about servant leadership and why it is a key ingredient for addressing the 21st century leadership and development challenges. From 7th to 9th February 2020, we welcomed 21 fellows of the third cohort to their graduation seminar.
