The Status and Costs of Kampala’s Polluted Air
As a rapidly growing city, Kampala is facing the equally mounting problem of pollution, impacting the health of its inhabitants. Pollution occurs in an abundance of forms, roughly categorized into air, water and land pollution. Urban areas suffer greatly from air pollution mainly due to combustion processes. Critical sources of harmful emissions include vehicles, unpaved roads, industry, open waste burning and domestic cooking. This meeting is to bring key players of the various sectors together to share information on the prevalent situation, on the state of current projects and on the prospects, hence identifying opportunities for cooperative synergies.

Regional Debate Competitions
In recognition of the important contribution young people make towards national development, ACFODE, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, will conduct Regional Debate Competitions. 16 teams with representatives from each University will debate in discussions about gender, democracy, good governance and participation in decision making processes.
The political Leadership Advancement Lab - Youth Leadership Training
Together with the University Forum on Governance (UNIFOG), we organize the political Leadership Advancement Lab (POLA-Lab) which aims at mentoring a new breed of more effective and reflective leaders with skills to deal with the contemporary development challenges.
Directorate of National Guidance (DNG) Workshop - Training of elected leaders in promoting good governance
Together with the Directorate of National Guidance we train elected and appointed leaders on key topics that are geared towards fostering togetherness and ensuring that district councils work effectively in a multiparty system at the district level.

MEDIA CHALLENGE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
In cooperation with the Media Challenge Initiative we give students the opportunity to learn relevant journalistic and especially digital skills, so that they are well prepared for a career in media. The students will not only learn practical methods, but will also attend discussions about the importance of quality journalism for democratization and development.
The Young and Emerging Leaders Project (YELP) Fellowship Graduation Seminar
This third seminar of YELP, an initiative of the LéO Africa Institute, is guided by the slogan "Living your Legacy" and focuses on moving beyond the “self”- from achieving and managing personal success to achieving significance in society.
Workshop: Dissemination of the R-ARCSS

Launching a Platform for Political Leadership Advancement for South Sudanese Youth
During the inaugural workshop held in Juba on 13th & 14th of February 2020, the political leadership advancement training brought together 30 youth who have demonstrated leadership potentials through previous volunteer engagements and professional work and are interested in furthering their leadership skills and political competencies which will allow them to actively take part in political leadership and civic processes.
Promoting good governance in a multiparty system at the district level
Together with the Directorate of National Guidance (DNG) we hosted a two days training for district leaders in Lira in order to promote political pluralism and stronger collaboration among the appointed and elected leaders at the local government level.

Change requires ideas and ideas demand people who think and approach them. The Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung, LéO Africa Institute and Stanbic Bank are therefore bringing together young and aspiring thinkers of a new generation. Already in its third year, the Young and Emerging Leaders Project (YELP) brings together over 30 change makers in various fields to reflect and learn more about servant leadership and why it is a key ingredient for addressing the 21st century leadership and development challenges. From 7th to 9th February 2020, we welcomed 21 fellows of the third cohort to their graduation seminar.
