This seminar takes place as part of the series of events “The Importance of Central Europe for the EU”, which is organized by the KAS Office for Multilateral Dialogue Vienna.

At the ‘Visegrád Workshop’ 25 selected experts from seven countries – Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia – will discuss the digital transformation and developments caused by the coronavirus pandemic in Central and Eastern Europe with a special focus on digital transformation.
COVID-19 has caused not only an unprecedented crisis worldwide with extremely negative effects on the economy, but it also required sectors like digitalization to adapt and transform according to this totally new situation. The experts will discuss the new trends, the challenges and the opportunities associated with this digital revolution, and how the world’s most powerful economies try to cope with the effects of the pandemic.
How does the CEE region perform compared to the rest of the European Union? Did the COVID-19 pandemic make the division bigger between member states? How big is the potential of the CEE economies in regard of digitalization? Which are the leading sectors in these countries? These and similar issues will be discussed during the workshop.
