Scientific study on environmental issues

The study in front of you sheds light on a topic that is almost always ignored: the environmental consequences of an armed conflict. Even if the war in Kosovo ended in 1999 -already more than twenty years ago - remnants of war still can be seen. The study has been prepared by authors of the "Transitional Justice Ressource Centre" and is available in English, Albanian and Serbian languages.

Am 5. November trat Hashim Thaçi, der Präsident der Republik Kosovo und ehemaliger politischer Kopf der UÇK (Kosovarische Befreiungsarmee), nach Bestätigung seiner Anklage vor dem Kosovo-Sondertribunal in Den Haag, von seinem Amt als Staatspräsident zurück. In einer Pressekonferenz erklärte Thaçi, er lege sein Amt als Präsident zur Wahrung der Integrität des Kosovo nieder und werde sich nach Den Haag begeben. Wenige Stunden zuvor hatte Kadri Veseli, Vorsitzender der PDK (Demokratische Partei Kosovo, drittstärkste Partei bei den Wahlen 2019), ehemaliger Präsident des Parlaments und während des Krieges Chef des kosovarischen Geheimdienstes, erklärt, dass auch die Anklage gegen ihn in Den Haag bestätigt worden sei und dass er sich freiwillig dem Sondertribunal stellen werde.
