Consultative Discussion: Survey Findings on Waste Management Practices at Local Level - Foundation Office Cambodia
Discussion
Details
The National Committee for Subnational Democratic Development (NCDD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment (MoEnv), has been reviewing the legal framework on Waste Management. A new Sub Decree was recently been approved, aiming at transferring the function of waste management implementation to the municipal/district level.
To better understand the situation of the implementers at the sub-national level, NCDD in cooperation with The National League of Municipality Districts/Khans Communes/Sangkats Councils (NLC/S) and KAS have collected experiences through the distribution of a survey to document the current practices and challenges on Waste Management at the district and municipality level.
The survey’s results play an important role for national policy makers in supporting the development of waste management policies at the local level. Given such a vital role, a Consultative Discussion among selected municipality/district administrations is believed to be useful for the finalization of the documentation and all further developments.
