DDP FREEDOM MONTH CELEBRATIONS- DIALOGUES
By: Sthabiso Mdledle
Democracy Development Program urges different social partners to play their respective roles in responding to the country’s political shifts.
The DDP views the current political shifts as a great opportunity for citizens to mobilize for change when faced with wide-ranging dilemmas and seek alternative possibilities to rejuvenate hope for a better future as envisioned in the NDP. Is this relevant to what am saying below?
The DDP with her partners conducted a series of dialogues in the following communities: 24 April: KwaMashu – DDP&ASONET, 26th April: Folweni and Mariannridge – DDP, SRLF & MCC, 27th April: KwaMakhutha – DDP &GKCF, 28th April: Lamontville – DDP under the theme Community Mobilization for Change.
And the upcoming dialogue will be held on the 06th May 2017 at Sydenham (DDP& SCA).
According to the facilitators (being the organisations in these communities) these dialogues went according to their plan and they have achieved great citizen engagement including people with disabilities, youth as well as seniors citizens.
The DDP also distributed one of its publications Democracy and you books to these communities to enhance their own knowledge about how democracy works and the importance of active citizen participation.
