More recently, they have demonstrated impressive resolve in facing up to Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, China continues to present a challenge to the global trading system.

Mobility of the Future - What can Germany learn from the U.S.?

A Visiting Program in Washington, DC, Virginia und Michigan with State-Elected Officials

From March 21st to March 25th, a delegation from Germany will be in the U.S. for meetings with academic experts, stake-holders and regional officials on cutting-edge transportation technologies and infrastructure needs. The group consists of elected officials from the parliament of the state of Hesse and will travel to Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Detroit on an information tour and discussions about the newest developments in electric vehicle and autonomous driving research and technologies.

How did Günther Stern, just 15 years old, manage to obtain the life-saving visa for emigration to the United States in 1937? What exactly did he have to do as Ritchie Boy, enemy reconnaissance officer of the US Army Military Intelligence Unit, in occupied France in 1944/45? What was his role in advancing exile émigré research, as a renowned professor of German studies in the United States? And why did he at nearly 100 years of age, decide to accept German citizenship in 2019?

Visiting program in Washington, D.C., and New York City with Professor Dr. Jürgen Rüttgers

Prof. Jürgen Rüttgers, former federal minister and former minister president of North Rhine-Westfalia, visits Washington, D.C., and New York from from February 12st to 26st. There he will meet with high-ranking political stakeholders and experts from think tanks and international organizations. He will discuss in various settings the state of the transatlantic relationship, the challenges to the global order and the current issues driving the dialogue on both sides of the Atlantic.

Transatlantic Blue Economy Initiative – Study Launch

The term “Blue Economy” has been used in different ways. A comprehensive World Bank Report defines the Blue Economy as “comprising the range of economic sectors and related policies that together determine whether the use of oceanic resources is sustainable. An important challenge of the blue economy is thus to understand and better manage the many aspects of oceanic sustainability, ranging from sustainable fisheries to ecosystem health to pollution.”

The focus of this year's visit to the U.S. by Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, KAS Chairman and former President of the German Bundestag, and Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, Deputy Secretary General of the Foundation, was on challenges and solutions in dealing with artificial intelligence and in the global competition for investment and innovative companies.

Hermann Gröhe, Vice Chairman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group, former Federal Minister of Health and Vice Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung visited Washington, DC on the occasion of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting. He was accompanied by fellow Bundestag Member Dr. Georg Kippels, Member of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development, the Health Committee, and the Subcommittee on Global Health.

Im Rahmen zweier Vortragsveranstaltungen hat der Vorstandsvorsitzende der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Bundestagspräsident a.D. Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, die beiden neuen Auslandsmitarbeiter in der vergangenen Woche offiziell vorgestellt.
