Smart, affordable and climate-friendly - how digital buildings can increase energy efficiency in Europe - Europabüro Brüssel
Workshop
Details
As a leader in climate policy, the EU proposed the Clean Energy Package in November. It proposes a binding energy efficiency target of 30% by 2030 and an increased focus on renewable energy. Cities account for a large part of European energy consumption and are key contributors to Europe’s GDP.
The modernization and digitalization of urban areas is therefore crucial. European cities must become ‘smart’ – adopting energy efficiency solutions and ensuring sustainable energy management are among the key components. This transformation will particularly affect buildings, with the uptake of automated processes for heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and security.
More and more buildings are being connected with intelligent and adaptable software. At our first 'Think Digital' workshop we will analyze the opportunities and challenges of this transformation and will discuss how the European Union can play a positive regulatory role to support this evolution.
