From 23 to 25 October 2025, Vienna will be the meeting place for the global media community as it hosts the IPI World Congress and Media Innovation Festival. Over three days, leading journalists and innovators from around the world will gather to debate some of the most pressing questions for journalism today. The program will address the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence, the growing influence of Big Tech, and the struggle for press freedom under authoritarian pressure. It will also explore the future of local and investigative reporting, new paths to financial sustainability, and the significant role of media in covering wars, climate change and other global issues. Alongside these discussions, the festival will present new digital initiatives and innovative approaches to storytelling.
Supported by the KAS Media Programme South East Europe, journalists from our region will actively participate in the Congress. Their presence will ensure that the experiences and challenges of South East Europe are included in the global conversation on building stronger and freer future for journalism.
