Khon Kaen Province, as the center of the Northeastern region, has made significant progress in economic, social, and innovation development. At the same time, however, it still faces challenges in managing public services to effectively and equitably meet the needs of citizens in the digital era. Enhancing Generative AI skills for executives, officials of regional, provincial, and local government agencies, as well as local community leaders, is therefore a crucial mechanism to help the province cope with technological changes and to create new forms of public services that are more responsive and more easily accessible to the people.
With the above-mentioned reason, College of Local Administration at Khon Kaen University or COLA-KKU as an educational institution, realises the significance in providing academic service on this matter and plans to implement the project to tackle those challenges through the format of the workshop. With the support of KAS, this workshop series aims not only to provide participants with theoretical knowledge about Generative AI, but also to offer hands-on practice in using AI tools to solve work-related and service delivery challenges in government agencies. These include tasks such as preparing documents, designing projects, conducting policy data analysis, strategically communicating with the public, and even applying AI to support strategic decision-making. In addition, the workshop will emphasise raising awareness of ethics, responsibility, and data security—core principles that are essential in managing modern technologies.
In addition, this project will play an important role in building networks of collaboration between government agencies and community leaders to continuously exchange approaches for applying AI at the local level in a creative and sustainable manner. Such cooperation will help generate concrete progress, which can be extended to improving local systems and policies of higher quality, as well as strengthening public trust in government institutions.
Therefore, these capacity-building workshops on the use of Generative AI for government personnel and community leaders will represent a crucial step in developing human resources and digital efficiency in Khon Kaen Province’s public sector and local communities. It will enable them to better cope with technological change and create a new generation of public services that are effective, secure, and ethical.
