Bolsonaro und Lula jetzt offiziell zu Präsidentschaftskandidaten gekürt

Der amtierende Präsident Jair Bolsonaro (Partido Liberal, PL), und Luiz Inácio „Lula“ da Silva (Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT) wurden am Wochenende offiziell zu Kandidaten ihrer Parteien für das Präsidentenamt in Brasilien ernannt. Somit nimmt der Wahlkampf in Brasilien nun volle Fahrt auf. Mit Spannung werden in den nächsten Wochen die Wahlallianzen beobachtet, die sich zur Unterstützung der Kandidaten bilden. Während Lula das Land bereist, nutzt Präsident Jair Bolsonaro auch offizielle Anlässe, um für seine Regierung zu werben und die Sicherheit des eigenen Wahlsystems vor internationalem Publikum anzuzweifeln, um so einer möglichen Niederlage vorzugreifen. Die Stimmung im Land ist zunehmend polarisiert, was bereits zu ersten gewalttätigen Akten führte. Der verabschiedete sogenannte „Kamikaze-Haushalt“, durch den mit Hilfe eines Notstandsgesetzes die Zahlungen von Sozialhilfeleistungen in Zeiten des Wahlkampfs erhöht werden, hinterlässt einen Beigeschmack. Dies sind Entwicklungen, die zeigen, dass Brasilien vor einem schwierigen Wahlkampf und Wahlausgang steht.
