Third Stammtisch of the KAS Alumni in Rio de Janeiro - Foundation Office Brazil
Event Reports
In Rio de Janeiro, the Alumni of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) gathered for their third consecutive Altstipendiatenstammtisch at „Prefácio Library ”. The Alumni exchanged their views on the current state of German-Brazilian relations as well as actual political issues discussed in the two countries.
Subsequently, alumnus Friedrich Christian Matthäus delivered a presentation on KAS' successful performance in the “Global Go To Think Tank Report 2014” of the Think Tank and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania. The study investigated the grade of influence policy research institutes play in government decisions and civil societies in a global frame. Evaluation of criteria included the quality and distribution of political recommendations as well as their connection with the scientific and decision-making communities. KAS has been ranked in top positions: Globally, the foundation is ranked twenty-ninth, whereas within Western Europe, she is ranked ninth. Especially the pole position as “Best Think Tank Network” has a special meaning. It shows that the foundation has built up the most efficient network worldwide.
As Easter celebrations dawned, Friedrich Christian Matthäus made everyone a special surprise: According to Brazilian tradition, every alumnus received a chocolate egg. The third Stammtisch of Brazilian KAS Alumni in Rio de Janeiro ended thus in an easterly atmosphere.
