Public Dialogue Forums

Since 2022, KAS Ghana has organised Ma Ye N’kasa, a regular dialogue format whose name means “Let’s Talk” in Twi – and that is precisely what the platform is about. Originally created to give particularly young Ghanaians, whose voices are often less represented in public debate, a space to share their perspectives, Ma Ye N’kasa has since grown into a broader and increasingly diverse forum for dialogue. Today, it brings together people from all walks of life – young people, political and civil society actors, academia, public institutions and representatives of the international community – to exchange views on issues of current political, social and economic relevance.
The topics discussed under Ma Ye N’kasa vary, but they have one thing in common: they address issues of immediate relevance to Ghanaian politics and society. One example is a discussion on “Illegal Mining, Human Rights and Community Protection in Ghana,” which brought together different perspectives on galamsey, illegal and environmentally destructive small-scale mining and one of Ghana’s most pressing political, environmental and socio-economic challenges.
Creating spaces for open and informed dialogue is at the heart of KAS’s work. By bringing together different perspectives and providing platforms for exchange beyond established political and institutional circles, KAS seeks to strengthen democratic participation, encourage informed public debate and contribute to constructive dialogue on the challenges shaping Ghana’s political and social development.
