In 2015, over one million migrants have crossed the Mediterranean to Europe. Many cross through Greece and then move via the Balkans to the rest of Europe. Responding has been challenging for the European Union as a whole, and especially for Greece due to its geographical location.
Within this framework Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy organize a discussion on the current refugee and migration challenges.
The keynote speakers are:
- Dimitris Avramopoulos, EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship
- Ioannis Mouzalas, Alternate Minister for Migration Policy
- Vassilis Kikilias, Member of Parliament, New Democracy Coordinator for Migration Policy
- Daniel Esdras, Head of Greece Office of the International Organisation for Migration
- Gerald Knaus, Chairman of the European Stability Initiative

Simultaneous interpretation in Greek and English will be available.
