The books we read, talk about our lives, our feelings and our experiences. But does a writer only have a role to sweeten our time with stories? Or do writers have another responsibility, holding up a mirror to society to try to influence social and political events?

Energy Efficiency in Israel and the Palestinian Territories

As part of the event series "Sustainability, Climate and Energy", the Israel/Palestine Center for Research and Information (IPCRI) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung invited Israeli and Palestinian representatives from the business sector, academia, government and politics to a workshop. The event took place on 22 April 2012 and after an intense working session, recommendations for more energy efficiency in Israel and the Palestinian Territories were developed.

Young people from all over Europe and Arab countries met for two days at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin to discuss what can be learned from other people's point of views on the situation.

A united faith-based message for environmental sustainability

The Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development (ICSD) and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung co-organized the Interfaith Climate and Energy Conference held on Monday, March 19th, 2012, at the Konrad Adenauer Conference Center, in Mishkenot Sha'ananim, Jerusalem. The conference included plenary sessions with prominent religious leaders in the Holy Land, video addresses from world religious leaders, including the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and interactive break-out workshops among the participants.

Dealing with topics related to climate change and renewable energy has become a top priority within the framework of German development cooperation. Accordingly, the Washington Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) hosted a study trip of Israeli and Palestinian energy experts to the United States from March 5-9, 2012.

Energy Security and Energy Strategies in Europe and Israel

On March 18th 2012, Ben-Gurion University’s Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research hosted a symposium on the subject Energy Security for Europe and Israel, organized by the Israel office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. The purpose of the symposium was to bring together European and Israeli energy specialists in order to compare their respective insights into ideas for reducing dependence on the world’s ever-dwindling supplies of oil.
