From Storytelling to Activism

On February 24-25th the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Israel held a two-day seminar. More than fifty Palestinian and Israeli high-school students participated in it. The seminar aimed to enable the students to emerge from their personal and national narratives in order to find a common ground between the two peoples and eventually to become more active in their communities.

Dialogprogramm mit CDU-Generalsekretär Dr. Peter Tauber

Vom 21.bis 24. Februar kam CDU Generalsekretär Dr. Peter Tauber (MdB) mit einer Gruppe von Bundes- und Landtagsabgeordneten nach Israel. Im Vordergrund des Dialogprogramms stand vor allem die Frage, in welchen Bereichen die deutsch-israelischen Beziehungen noch weiter intensiviert werden können. Welchen Herausforderungen beide Länder gegenwärtig gegenüberstehen wurde u.a. mit dem Sprecher der Knesset, Yuli Yoel Edelstein und dem Vorsitzenden der deutsch-israelischen Parlamentariergruppe, Nachman Shai, diskutiert.

Internationale Konferenz

Die KAS Israel und das Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) widmeten sich im Rahmen ihrer gemeinsamen Jahreskonferenz am 28. Februar 2017 einem besonderen Datum – dem 100. Jahrestag der Balfour Deklaration. Sie stellte einen Meilenstein für die Anerkennung des Existenzrechts des jüdischen Volkes im Heiligen Land dar. Sie wird zu Recht als einer der entscheidenden Schritte auf dem Weg zur Gründung des Staates Israel dargestellt. Experten aus unterschiedlichen Disziplinen analysierten die Balfour Deklaration und deren Implikationen aus historischer, rechtlicher und politischer Perspektive.

Left behind or Poor by choice?

The Working and the Poor Conference

Together with the Economics and Society Program at the Van Leer Institute, The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung hosted a conference on the "Working Poor". This growing phenomenon was discussed in the conference in depth from varying and contradicting perspectives. Possible solutions were presented by experts in the field and decision makers, including our keynote speaker Prof. Ronnie Schöb from the Freie Universität Berlin. While no clear cut answer was agreed upon, the conference brought up some very important issues regarding labor policy, education, wages and government responsibility.

Marking Twenty Years of Israeli-EU Scientific Cooperation

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in cooperation with The Center for the Study of European Politics and Society at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev marked last November twenty successful years of Israeli-EU scientific cooperation in a special conference which was held at the Mishkenot Sha’ananim Conference Center in Jerusalem.

Reviewing the EU role in the Middle East

Study Day for students

The study and information program was held in cooperation with The Centre for the Study of European Politics and Society and the participants were students of the Adenauer Division for the study of European Politics and Society and students of The Department of Politics and Government. The goal of the program was to explore the current EU role in the Middle East and especially to learn about the various activities of the EU and its member states in regards to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Europa und Israel: Ein Auseinanderleben können wir uns nicht leisten

Im Rahmen der Fachkonferenz „20 Jahre deutsch-israelische Wissenschaftskooperation“ konnte die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Israel den ehemaligen Ministerpräsidenten von Thüringen und Rheinland-Pfalz und Ehrenvorsitzenden der Stiftung, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Vogel, zu einem Dialogprogramm vom 27. bis 30. November in Israel begrüßen. Neben den Wissenschaftsbeziehungen zwischen der EU und Israel, standen aktuelle politische Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen im Mittelpunkt der Gespräche mit u.a. dem deutschen Botschafter Dr. Clemens von Goetze und dem stellvertretenden Sprecher der Knesset, Hilik Bar.

YOCOPAS Conference 2016

YOUTH COLLABORATION OF PEACE AND SUSTAINABILITY

On October 26th-28th the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung hosted in cooperation with the Eastern Mediterranean International School (EMIS) the yearly Youth Collaboration of Peace and Sustainability Conference (YOCOPAS). The conference took place in HaKfar HaYarok and ten Israeli and Palestinian schools participated in it. The goal was “to enhance peace and sustainability in the middle east through networking of local and international students and educators as an accelerator for change”.

Knesset-Abgeordnete aus den Regierungs- und Oppositionsparteien vertiefen ihre Kontakte in Berlin

Die Delegation aus Israel besuchte vom 13. bis 17.12.2016 Berlin. Während ihres Aufenthaltes führte die Delegation Gespräche mit dem Bundestagspräsidenten, Herrn Prof. Dr. Lammert, MdB sowie weiteren hochrangigen Vertretern aus Politik, Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft.
