Edelstein expressed cautious optimism about the prospects of the current negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians. He also conveyed the complexity of the situation and explained that for peace to be lasting, it must be supported by a broad majority of the Israeli and Palestinian public.
The speaker of the Knesset also pointed out that the support of European organizations and institutions is valued in order to promote dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians. He thanked the long-standing commitment of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung for promoting understanding between the Israeli and Palestinian civil societies.
