The Middle East is the only region in the world that has two controversial nuclear programs: The Iranian nuclear program, which is viewed suspiciously by the international community, and the Israeli nuclear program, which falls outside the framework of IAEA and aims to achieve deterrence and the false guarantee of self-preservation and will have alarming consequences. Despite this, there is a total absence of specialized curriculums in Jordanian and ARab universities that address security, arms control and non-conventional capabilities. As such, for the disarmament debate to go forward and to succeed, a new generation of qualified leaders in disarmament and non-proliferation has to be empowered.
KAS-Jordan Office and the ACSIS are launching a competition that aims to promote the contribution of young professionals, youth and students in the fields of security, arms control and strategic issues. Participants are invited to submit 2000-2500 word essays on specific tracks related to the theme of security in either Arabic or English. Select candidates wil then be presented with the opportunity to present their written contributions in a specialized international conference on WMDs taking place in Jordan in June 2021. The deadline for submitting the essays is on May 1st, 2021.
You can find more information on the competition, by clicking on the button on the right side of the page.
