Changing Regional Security in the Middle East

Conference in partnership with the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS)

In partnership with the Centre for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Jordan, the KAS Jordan office from 17-18 June 2026 hosted the conference “Changing Regional Security in the Middle East”. The conference convened a diverse group of experts from Jordan, the region and beyond to exchange insights on emerging regional security dynamics, explore the implications of recent developments and map potential trajectories for the coming years.

Capacity Building for Social Studies Teachers’ Guide Developers

In cooperation with the Jordanian Center for Civic Education (JCCE)

The KAS Jordan Office and the Jordanian Center for Civic Education (JCCE), in collaboration with the National Center for Curriculum Development (NCCD), conducted from 11-13 June 2026 a three-day workshop for a group of experts who will be developing social science teachers’ guides for various academic levels. The guides aim to assist teachers of social science and other disciplines, such as Arabic language and religious studies, in presenting the new curriculum.

Mithaq Political Leadership Pathways

Leadership training program for party youth

In cooperation with the Mithaq Political Party, the KAS Jordan Office successfully concluded the specialised training workshop titled “Mithaq Political Leadership Pathways”. The training program helped to prepare a new generation of young leaders within the political party, who are capable of representing their communities effectively and of contributing to the advancement of democratic processes.

The Role of Parliament in Promoting the Rights and Active Citizenship for Persons with Disabilities

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’s, Jordan Office, in cooperation with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held a dialogue session under the patronage of the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives to discuss the role of parliament in strengthening the rights, active citizenship and political participation of people with disabilities.

Training of Teachers: How to Teach Politics at School

The KAS Jordan Office, in cooperation with the Jordanian Centre for Civic Education (JCCE), held the first of four training workshops for Social Studies teachers on 13-14 February. The updated Social Studies curriculum, introduced by the National Center for Curriculum Development (NCCD), includes critical topics such as political parties, human rights and elections, which require innovative teaching strategies to engage students effectively. The teachers’ training workshops, which KAS and JCCE launched in 2023, focus on democracy and political participation and aim to equip teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver these topics effectively to their students. The workshops include teachers with disabilities who are actively teaching social studies, bringing the project in line with HM King Abdullah’s directives for inclusion of persons with disabilities in the educational system.

On Wednesday, 11 February 2026, Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) Jordan Office and the West Asisa-North Africa (WANA) Institute jointly hosted the event “Addressing Socio-Economic Challenges in Jordan”. The served to publish and present seven policy papers addressing different socio-economic challenges in Jordan within the framework of the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV) 2022-2033. The event brought together a wide range of participants from Jordanian government institutions and representatives of prominent stakeholders in the country who actively contributed to the discussions.

Defining a Role Amidst Domestic Reforms and Regional Conflicts

The Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung Jordan (KAS) and the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) organized an international conference on the role of Christians in Jordan and the Middle East amidst regional conflicts and domestic reforms. Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Rajai Muasher, the event brought together political, religious, academic, and civil society leaders to discuss the contributions of Christian communities to peace, stability, and interfaith dialogue. Emphasizing Jordan's commitment to coexistence under King Abdullah II, speakers highlighted the historical significance of Christians in Jordanian society and the broader challenges faced by Christians in the region, including issues of identity, religious freedom, and migration. The conference also acknowledged the important role of the Christian diaspora in supporting peace and reform efforts.

Building a Culture of Citizenship and Social Peace

On 22nd September 2025, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the KAS Jordan Office, in cooperation with the Jordanian Center for Civic Education (JCCE) and the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM), organised the conference “Civic Education and Religion: Building a Culture of Citizenship and Social Peace.” The event brought together academics, policymakers, educators, and religious leaders to explore how civic education and religion can jointly foster citizenship, inclusion, and social cohesion. Discussions addressed the ethical foundations of faith, the challenges and opportunities of the digital age, and the crucial role of schools in cultivating responsible and engaged citizens. The conference concluded with a shared call for a stronger synergy between civic education and religion to promote peace, shared values, and coexistence.
