Workshop
Details
Since a culture of dialogue is developed and practiced among Cambodian ruling and opposition parties’ leaders and parliamentarians, KAS would like to use the opportunity to initiate and kick off an ongoing dialogue about the legal framework and practice of law making and law review within the Cambodian Legislative Branch. This new culture of dialogue could contribute to improve law making and law reviewing rules and policies of the Parliament through a joint discussion on the existing legal framework.
During the workshop the participants will discuss the status of existing law making and reviewing practices of the Cambodian Parliament.
The main objectives of the consultative workshop are to:
•Review and assess existing laws and regulations on “law making and law reviewing processes” in the Cambodian Parliament.
•Learn about best practices of law making and review techniques and methods in other countries such as Germany
•Discuss and recommend changes in the legal framework for law making and law reviewing by the legislative branch
The workshop should be the start of a series of follow up meetings to carefully think about the strengthening of the legislative branch in order to fully play its legislative role effectively and to increase the quality of law making as a whole as one of its main core function.
