Details
The Korean Wave, or known as “Hallyu”, is defined as the preference or enthusiasm of the Korean cultural contents. The Korean Wave, in fact, has expanded its outreach to all parts of the world so successfully that it has become a transnational culture phenomenon that helped shape Korea's image and presence in the modern world.
Cambodia, a country located at the heart of Southeast Asia, has received the inflow of the Korean Wave no different from China and other Southeast Asian countries. The re-establishment of relations between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea has catalyzed the Korean Wave to make its footprint in the Kingdom. At the time of writing, there is no research on the Cambodian youth perception of the Korean Wave in Phnom Penh or why the Cambodian youth favor such an inflow.
This gives an opportunity for the authors to look into the view of the Cambodian youth toward the Korean Wave to understand whether they favor it or otherwise. This research shall produce the outcome towards the aspects of the Korean Wave that are the most popular in Phnom Penh while also understanding the perception of Khmer youth toward the positive and negative impacts that such inflow can do on Cambodia.
With this research topic, Research Colloquium is excited to welcome Mr. Bunly Ek, who will present his research paper on the topic of the "Youth's Perception of the Korean Wave in Cambodia: A Look on the Youth's Perspective in Phnom Penh."
