In an increasingly connected yet fragmented world, it is necessary to herald a new era of building common approaches, establishing codes of ethics for new media and support credible, sustainable journalism across the continent of Africa.
Following their first meeting in 2024, in Cape Town, the MCT will host now the first Pan-African Media Councils’ Summit in collaboration with NIMCA and the EAPC in Arusha city, Tanzania. This summit seeks to bring together key stakeholders from across the continent to deliberate, collaborate, and establish a unified approach to media regulation in Africa. As the media industry continues to evolve with advancements in technology and shifts in societal expectations, there is an urgent need for legal and regulatory frameworks that can adapt and ensure a free, responsible, and ethical media environment.
