The dangers to our democracy posed by the spread of disinformation are already great. But the risks associated with disinformation created by artificial intelligence are incalculable. Since these dangers affect us all, we must build resilience across continents and take countermeasures. In our specific case, we are looking at Europe and Africa - and building bridges between the two continents.
Based on the comparative study “AI-Generated Disinformation in Europe and Africa” published in February 2025 by the KAS Media Africa, this workshop aims to provide attendants with insights, applicable knowledge and best practice examples of how to engage with AI disinformation. The interactive workshop is designed for journalists and media professionals to explore the challenges of combating AI-driven content, learn about current trends in Europe and Africa, and gain practical tools and strategies for analysing and countering misinformation, while also delving into policy and regulatory frameworks.
The workshop will be conducted by Philile Ntombela from AfricaCheck, Johannesburg/South Africa, and Dr Christopher Nehring, expert on AI-generated disinformation and author of the KAS study.
