Details

As a long-time correspondent for Southeast Europe of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), Michael Martens will talk about his experience in the region from his perspective. How does one become a correspondent? Where does a correspondent get information from abroad? How do interviews with presidents come about? How does a correspondent communicate with the editorial staff at home? These are just some of the questions Martens will answer in the winter edition of the Adenauer-Lecture 2022.

The event will be connected with a book presentation of the Bulgarian translation of the German handbook "ABC of Journalism". The handbook, edited by Prof. Claudia Mast, is one of the best-known professional books actively used by students, teachers and practicing journalists in Germany. With the support of the KAS Media Programme, the book is now also available in Bulgaria and other countries in Southeast Europe through its translation into Bulgarian, Albanian, Romanian and Croatian. The handbook has a broad thematic focus such as research techniques, presentation and communication with the media audience, concept development, editorial work, etc. Each participant will receive a free copy of the handbook during the event. The book will also be available in the university library afterwards.

The Adenauer-Lecture is a joint initiative of the KAS Media Programme for Southeast Europe and the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at Sofia University. Leading journalists and media experts from Germany discuss current topics in the media industry.
