Journalists can without a doubt tell many and exciting stories, which is why this year once again six media representatives from Southeast Europe had the opportunity to present their most interesting stories in front of an audience. On 16th of March 2023, Oana Filip from Romania, Zlatina Zehirova and Tsvetana Balabanova, both from Bulgaria, the Albanian journalists Fatjona Mejdini and Lorin Kadiu as well as Natalia Zaharescu from Moldova competed against each other. They shared their experiences in a highly entertaining way. The motto: "Who will offer the audience the most exciting look behind the scenes of journalistic work?"

The topics could not have been more different: from tractor-driving youths on TikTok to the sometimes bizarre world of Bulgarian politicians to paid demonstrators in Moldova, everything was there. There was also an insight into the everyday life of Ukrainians during the war, as well as the story of an unwilling protector of an old Enver-Hoxha-statue from Albania's communist era.

Of course, all the slammers were convincing with their stories - but in the end, only one can win: And this year that was Lorin Kadiu from Albania. With his very lively presentation about the destruction of old, cultural houses in Tirana, he thrilled the audience on site but also online via live stream. With his victory, he secured his ticket to the Reporter Slam annual final in Berlin next year.

The event was organised by the KAS Media Programme South East Europe in cooperation with Jochen Markett, who created the "Reporter Slam" series and moderated the evening, and the Albanian Media Institute.
