This 7th edition of the IPDEV newsletter touches on the following IP related topics:
At the beginning, Froilyn Mendoza, IP representative to the transition commission, criticizes in an open letter that the concerns of IPs in the ARMM have not yet been appropriately taken into account in the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB). The then following article ‘Breathing life into IP farming practices’ shows, how chemical farming slowly ousts the traditional sustainable farming of IPs. IPDEV tries to shed light on the negative consequences which chemical farming have and actively promotes a return to traditional farming.
‘Going beyond duty’ covers the meeting of IPDEV stakeholders on the occasion of one and a half years of project implementation. Among the attendants were Bo-i Era España, Commissioner of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and Mujiv Hataman, Governor of the ARMM. Both affirmed to push forward their efforts to implement an NCIP office in the ARMM to serve better the needs of IPs.
