Bridging Youth Across the Mediterranean - Regional Programme Political Dialogue and regional Integration in the Southern Mediterranean
A vast and largely untapped potential of opportunities exists on both rims of the Mediterranean. Youth constitute the largest age group in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries and represent the present and the future of the societies. Nevertheless, their potential remains largely un-utilized, as youth participation in social and public affairs remains low, despite the growing interest of participation that young people are showing.
The moment is thus one of opportunity to empower youth from both the Northern and Southern shores of the Mediterranean to participate more actively in shaping the future of their countries. With the conference, the Regional Program South Mediterranean of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean want to contribute to efforts aiming at bridging youth across the Mediterranean and giving young representatives from the Euro-Mediterranean region incentives for a successful participation in the development of their communities, countries and of the whole region.
