The Rule of Law Program South East Europe of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation has the pleasure to invite you on December 7 for the conference "Justice with a twist", celebrating 9 years of existence of the "Leaders for Justice" programme and community of Romanian young law professionals. Guest speakers Ahmet Alagün (Judge Berlin Mitte Court), Paul Radu (investigative journalist RISE Project) and Cristian Lupșa (editor Decât o Revistă) will take the floor, along with members of the LfJ Community.

Judicial independence under threat?
Global conference in Strasbourg
The Rule of Law Programme of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a conference in Strasbourg, including guests from all over the globe, to discuss the question "Is Judicial independence under threat?". Besides key note speakers like UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers Dr. Diego García-Sayán, we welcomed guests from the South East Europe region: Marin Mrčela, Vice-President of the Supreme Court of Croatia, and Simona-Maya Teodoroiu, Justice at the Constitutional Court of Romania, among others.

Peer-to-peer Visit to Romania by National Authorities involved in asset recovery processes
The visit will deal with the investigation of corruption and confiscation of proceeds of crime as well as effective tools and methods
The Rule of Law Programme South East Europe of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, based in Bucharest, is supporting the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI) and the Advice on Individual Rights in Europe (AIRE) in organizing a peer-to-peer visit to Romania on asset recovery practices and standards. The visit is taking place from 4th to 6th December 2018 in Bucharest, Romania and is part of the Regional Project “Strengthening anti-corruption in the South East Europe through improving asset seizure measures”. The main objective of the visit is to strengthen cooperation among institutions dealing with combating corruption and asset recovery and to facilitate peer-to-peer learning.

On April 19, 2018, Diego Garcia-Sayan, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer foundation (KAS).
