Nigeria: Fraud blacklist issued by police
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria has called for the prosecution of about 100 senior politicians and businessmen listed by the Nigerian Anti-Fraud police. Further, the commission urged political parties not to endorse such people as candidates in the next year’s elections .One of those named, Orji Kalu, who has been arraigned in court on 10 counts of fraud, has declared his interest in the presidency .He is accused of involvement in fraud deals worth 55bn Naira (equivalent to £21M or $33M).
Kenya: Kenya Foreign Minister and Permanent Secretary resign over scandal
The foreign minister of Kenya Hon. Moses Wetangula and his Permanent Secretary Mr. Thuita Mwangi have resigned over scandal involving the purchase and sell of properties by Kenyan Government in Japan, Nigeria and Pakistan. According to reports, the properties were bought at heavily inflated prices. Hon. Wetangula who maintains his innocence, made the announcement shortly before MPs voted for the adoption of a Parliamentary Committee report that had recommended his removal. He becomes the third senior public official to bite the freezer in a week after William Ruto former Higher Education Minister and Mayor of Nairobi Geoffrey Majiwa lost their posts over corruption allegations.
Rwanda: Terror charge for Opposition's Victoire Ingabire

ictoire Ingabire, Rwanda’s opposition leader has appeared in court accused of working with a terrorist group. Prosecutors said they had more evidence that she colluded with an ex-officer of a Hutu militia to buy and distribute weapons to threaten national security. Ms Ingabire denied the charges saying they were a fabrication and politically motivated.
Khartoum: Referendum
The Chairman of the Southern Sudan Referendum Commission said that, it will be a miracle if the Southern Sudan referendum is conducted as scheduled on 9th January 2011. Professor Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil made the statement after a meeting with the president of Southern Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit in Khartoum. He is quoted as saying that “When I’m asked, I always say that if we pass the referendum stage, that will be near miracle, and miracles happen and not impossible. We should know that it will be a sort of carelessness, telling the Sudanese people that it is very easy exercise and that we are going to tackle all the problems. People should understand the challenges facing this exercise. What I have said are not my own exaggerations, they are facts. What I have said the exercise from a constitutional perspective, needed enough time between July 2007 and 9th January 2011; count this time to know the real time needed to conduct southern Sudan Referendum. Guinea: Presidential run-off election date proposed
The Chief of Guinea's Electoral Commission has proposed 31 October as the date for the country's delayed presidential run-off. The president, General Sekouba Konate has to confirm the date by decree for it to take effect .But one of the two presidential candidates, Cellou Dalein Diallo, decried that the date was "too soon".
