Haki Na Sheria Dialogue Forum - The Elections 2017

The Elections 2017 - Is Kenya ready?

This is a regular early breakfast dialogue forum that addresses various topical issues pertinent to the rule of law from political, legal, social and economic angles. Various stakeholders met on 12/4/2016 to assess Kenya´s preparedness for the 2017 elections.

Mr. George Kegoro, Executive Director - Kenya Human Rights Commission & Kenyan Section for International Criminal Justice, led the discussions. Most important issues addressed were the various institutional challenges within IEBC, the judiciary, security agencies, political parties, the ruling elite and the low level awareness among Kenyans which cast doubts on the country´s preparedness to hold credible, fair and free elections next year.
