Knowledge Dissemination on Politics and Government, Roles, Duties and Powers of the Legislative Function

Parliamentary Demonstration

The workshop in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Senates aims to provide a platform for the young people in local provinces to discuss about the Thai political culture and political development as well as to arrange a demonstration activity for participants to study in details about parliamentary democracy and parliamentary protocol.

Personal Data Protection: Legal Framework and Practices

The discussion co-organised by KAS and Institute of Public Policy Studies (IPPS) will provide the participants from related working fields a platform to gain updated knowledge about the current policy, legal provision and situation of personal data protection in Thailand, to exchange ideas and to propose opinions beneficial for further policy development. The discussion will also pave the way for further monitoring the bill on personal data protection once it passes the Council of State and is approved by the cabinet.

Knowledge Enhancement Course for Administrative Case Officials

Provisional Measures before Delivery of Judgement

The Office of the Administrative Courts of Thailand (OAC) with the support from KAS will organise a lecture course intending to enhance knowledge and expertise of the administrative courts officials in the topics related to the court proceedings which involve, for example, suspension of by-laws and administrative orders, provisional remedial measures, the protection of applicant’s interest, the rejection and dismissal of provisional measures application, and etc.

Media Promotion: Efficient Reporting on Modern Development in EEC Area

KAS in cooperation with the Forum 21, a civil society institute for social development, will hold a seminar series to enhance the quality of all EEC area-related communities through the work of local media. It is expected that the collaboration between the local media groups and the local organisations in areas of economic and social significance of the EEC will be strengthened for further development in the region.

The seminar in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Senate (SOS) addresses community leaders from various provinces and representatives of local governmental agencies to promote the idea of participatory democracy in National Reform by using participatory learning methods.

Socioeconomic and Political Development in Southeast Asia: Looking Back and Looking Ahead

An international seminar co-organised by KAS and the College of the Local Administration (COLA) of Khon Kaen University will broaden participants’ knowledge and understanding on history and background of the socioeconomic and political development that shape the mutual vision on economics and policy development in Southeast Asian region. Besides, upon the panel discussion session, the stage will open for viewpoint exchange about challenge faced in local governance and sustainable development policy in the region in order to encourage further collaborated researches and policy analysis works among ASEAN member countries and even within its sub-regions.

Steering the Course of Digitalization

A Thai-German Exchange on Chances & Challenges of Digital Economy

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Office Thailand in cooperation with the German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG) and the Asian Governance Foundation (AGF) co-hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Steering the Course of Digitalization: A Thai-German Exchange on Chances and Challenges of Digital Economy” on 15 February 2024. The event informed about the current state of affairs, pressing challenges to overcome, as well as opportunities for future development and cooperation with respect to digitalization in both countries.

Project on Open and Innovative Government in Thailand

To mobilise the Open Government in Thailand more effectively, inclusively and continuously, the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission or OPDC organised a series of workshops and hackathon event last year to improve the public services and performance of the public sector. The focal topic this time was how to increase road safety in Thailand through the innovative and sustainable methods in order to reduce damage to life and property which has also affected the social and economic development of the country as a whole.

Dialogue Program EU-ASEAN as Strategic Partners for Growth and Prosperity

MP Serap Güler's Visit in Thailand

Ms. Serap Güler Member of the Bundestag, CDU/CSU parliamentary group, travelled to Bangkok from 30 to 31 October to take part in a dialogue program at the invitation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Thailand. Ms. Güler is, inter alia, Deputy Chairwoman of the Bundestag's Committee of Inquiry into Afghanistan and a member of the Defense Committee. Within the latter, she also serves as rapporteur for Asia. The focus of her visit to Bangkok therefore lay on security issues in the areas of foreign policy and international relations, trade and business, elections and citizen participation.

Europe-in-Review (EiR) Seminar

The German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG) and the Asian Governance Foundation (AGF) in cooperation with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Office Thailand co-hosted the seminar titled “The New European ESG Supply Chain Regulations and the Impact on Thailand” on 5 October 2023 at the Pullman G Hotel in Bangkok. The event informed about the nature of the EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) as the latest piece of environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-related regulation and mapped out its impact on relevant stakeholders in Thailand and the EU.

Enhancing Potential and Competitiveness of Local Community Business

Applying the Social Market Economy Principle in Thailand

In August-September 2023, the Population and Community Development Association (PDA) implemented the second phase of the Project “Business for Social and Environmental Development” with the support of the KAS. Adaptation and Management to Mitigate Impacts on Vulnerable Groups According to the Principle of Leaving No One Behind

ASEAN Community Center of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives and UNDP Thailand, with the support of KAS Thailand Office, held a seminar on 18 September 2023 to validate the report on “Climate Change: Adaptation and Management to Mitigate Impacts on Vulnerable Groups According to the Principle of Leaving No One Behind”. The report was compiled from information and data gathered in the previous activities which had been implemented in Chiang Mai, Songkla, and Bangkok in the beginning of the year. Among participants, there were parliamentary and ministerial officials, diplomats, and also representatives from Thai civil society.
