Re:Open Zakarpattia is a forum of ideas and solutions dedicated to the development of Zakarpattia as a multi-ethnic frontier region, Ukraine’s bridge to the European Union and NATO, and a pilot region for reforms that can be replicated across the country. Since its launch in 2020 by the Institute for Central European Strategy, the forum has become an important platform for dialogue among decision-makers at the local, national, and international levels.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Hearing One Another”. Discussions will focus on seven key areas: security, relations with Central European neighbours, the rights of national communities, media and countering disinformation, the new regional development strategy for 2027-2033, economic modernization and sustainability, as well as social resilience during and after the war.
This year's forum will be attended by Ukrainian and international politicians, diplomats, military personnel, experts, journalists, and security sector representatives from Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. Further details on registration and the programme can be found via the link.
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Office in Ukraine supports the forum as a platform for meaningful discussion on Ukraine’s European future, regional development, democratic resilience, and cooperation with partners across Central Europe.
