ASSESSMENT OF TOP 500 VIETNAMESE PRIVATE ENTERPRISES (VPE500 – REPORT 2025)

Hanoi, November 6, 2025 - Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam and the National Institute for Economics and Finance (NIEF) under the Ministry of Finance co-hosted the workshop “Assessment of Top 500 Vietnamese Private Enterprises (VPE500 – Report 2025)”. The event brought together policymakers, economists, business executives, and researchers to discuss new evidence on the structure, performance, and policy environment of Vietnam’s largest private enterprises.

DOI MOI TURNS 40: REVISITING VIETNAM’S TRANSITION AND ITS FOREIGN POLICY

Hanoi, 7 November 2025 – The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam, in partnership with the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), hosted an international conference titled “DOI MOI TURNS 40: REVISITING VIETNAM’S TRANSITION AND ITS FOREIGN POLICY”. The conference gathered senior diplomats, renowned Vietnamese and international scholars, and emerging researchers for a dynamic dialogue on Vietnam’s socio-economic transformation and its evolving role on the world stage.

ENHANCING THE ROLE AND COMPETENCE OF LEGAL AFFAIRS PROFESSIONALS

In the context of establishing a public lawyer institution in Vietnam

On November 7, 2025, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice’s Department of Examination of Legal Normative Documents and Management of Handling of Administrative Violations, hosted a conference titled “Enhancing the Role and Competence of Legal Affairs Professionals in the Context of Establishing a Public Lawyer Institution in Vietnam.” The event brought together more than 130 participants, including senior leaders from ministries, state-owned enterprises, local governments, and legal affairs officers from 20 provinces.

THE 17TH SOUTH CHINA SEA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

UNITY IN UNCERTAINTIES

The 17th International Scientific Conference on the South China Sea, themed “Unity in Uncertainties,” was successfully held in Da Nang on 3–4 November 2025. The event brought together over 300 participants and featured a keynote session, six thematic panels, and four live commentaries, offering a comprehensive exploration of recent developments in the South China Sea and the broader region.

NEW HO CHI MINH CITY: SHAPING THE GOVERNANCE MODEL FOR AN INTEGRATED METROPOLITAN REGION

Ho Chi Minh City is undergoing a transformative phase as its administrative and economic footprint expands to integrate with neighbouring provinces such as Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau. This evolution marks the emergence of Vietnam’s first integrated metropolitan region - a multi-centered urban model that calls for innovative governance and adaptive operational frameworks. In response to this strategic shift, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam, in partnership with the Saigon University Research Institute for Socio-Economics (RISE), convened an international conference to explore governance models tailored to the needs of the new Ho Chi Minh City.

VIETNAM’S DIPLOMATIC EQUILIBRIUM IN THE INDO-PACIFIC

On October 22, 2025, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam , in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, hosted a research dissemination workshop titled “Vietnam’s Diplomatic Equilibrium: Navigating International Relations in the Indo-Pacific.” The event brought together international and national scholars and experts to examine Vietnam’s strategic foreign policy amid a rapidly evolving regional and global landscape.

AsianSIL 10th BIENNIAL CONFERENCE 2025

A REGIONAL PLATFORM FOR LEGAL COOPERATION AND NORM DEVELOPMENT IN ASIA

Hanoi, Vietnam – Amid shifting global dynamics and Asia’s rising influence, the 10th Biennial Conference of the Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL) convened in Hanoi from October 9–10, 2025, under the theme “Strengthening the Role of International Law in Asia.” The conference addressed pressing global challenges such as geopolitical tensions, technological disruption, and environmental crises, and provided a platform for regional voices to shape the future of international legal norms.

MEKONG INTERNATIONAL FORUM 2025

BUILDING SUSTAINABLE PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE MEKONG FUTURE

As the Mekong region faces mounting challenges - from climate change and resource competition to shifting geopolitical dynamics - the need for resilient and forward-looking partnerships has become increasingly urgent. In response, the Mekong International Forum 2025, held in Hanoi on 26 September, convened under the theme “Building Sustainable Partnerships for the Mekong Future.” The Forum brought together diplomats, scholars, and regional experts from all six Mekong basin countries: Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Co-organized by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Vietnam and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), the Forum served as a vital platform to reassess existing cooperation frameworks, align international partners’ policy priorities with regional expectations, foster open dialogue, and explore new avenues for collaboration in the Mekong region.

Vietnam Strengthens Legal Capacity to Address International Investment Disputes

Ho Chi Minh City, September 22, 2025 - As Vietnam accelerates legal reforms to align with international standards, the country is prioritizing its ability to manage international investment disputes. This commitment is highlighted at the training event co-hosted by the Ministry of Justice’s Department of International Law and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Vietnam, as part of the Germany–Vietnam Rule-of-Law Dialogue.
