Indonesien ist der größte muslimische Staat der Welt. Mehr als 40 Prozent der Bevölkerung ist unter 24 Jahre. Im Rahmen einer Diskussionsveranstaltung mit Vizepräsident Jusuf Kalla in Jakarta hat sich der stv. Generalsekretär Dr. Gerhard Wahlers daher für ein stärkeres Engagement im Bereich der Jugendförderung ausgesprochen. Die KAS feiert in diesem Jahr ihr 50. Jubiläum in Indonesien.

Dr. Pöttering attended KAS Conference of KAS Asia & Pacific team in Asia and Pacific region. April 2017 nach Indonesien, um an der regionalen Mitarbeiterkonferenz des Teams Asien und Pazifik teilzunehmen. Er wurde vom Stellvertretenden Generalsekretär und Leiter der Hauptabteilung Europäische und Internationale Zusammenarbeit der KAS, Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, begleitet.

Indonesia as the oldest democracy and the biggest Muslim country of the world faces great challenges in stabilization and consolidation of the democratic state. In the official “Corruption Perceptions Index 2016” Indonesia ranks at place 90 out of 176 counties and improved in comparison to 2014 where the island state reached place 107 in the overall ranking. The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung is supporting the path of democratic transition and development of the Indonesian democracy.
