The seminar will explore how to successfully implement the Sustainable Development Goal on energy (SDG7) in developing countries and how EU policies can contribute to achieving this aim. The first session on “Linking energy and climate objectives – What instruments can be used?” will introduce the goals and targets of SDG7, the state of play of access to energy in developing countries and the implementation of SDG7 in consistency with climate objectives. The second session on “Supporting the development of sustainable energy in developing countries and least developed countries – Is the EU on the right track?” will present the instruments used by the EU and its member states to support the development of sustainable energy in developing countries, identifying benefits and challenges, as well as discussing concrete policy recommendations.
