The Proposed Pledge of Allegiance and the Arab Citizens of Israel

The current issue contains an editorial by Prof. Oded Haklai, who compares the unique features of the Israeli citizenship law with pledges of allegiance required as a condition for citizenship in other countries. This issue also provides reactions to the bill, which were reported in the media following the ratification of the bill in the Government’s meeting on October 10, 2010. Extensive space is devoted to responses of Arab Knesset Members and ex-parliamentary organizations that are active in the Arab community.
