CALL 112 at Alliance Française

On August 14th 2025, Alliance Française Kampala hosted a screening of Call 112, a Ugandan film that explores the impact of disinformation in society. Set in a local context, the film highlights how false information can spread rapidly and impact trust within communities. Following the screening, a panel discussion featured filmmaker Usama Mukwaya, journalist and KAS Programme Officer Sam Muhindo, film producer Hadijah Nakanjako, and journalist Edgar M. Karuhanga. The panel explored how disinformation preys on deeply human traits such as identity and emotion—factors that make it especially challenging to recognize and counter. The event brought together voices from culture, arts, film, politics, and civil society to reflect on the growing challenge of disinformation and the need for media literacy, critical thinking, and responsible communication.
