The course aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of human rights and to address current debates in this sense. The event was held on a hybrid basis so that interested parties from all over Brazil could follow it live. The debates focused on the impact of technology and development policies on fundamental and human rights and workers' rights.

Immediately before the course began, the book "Current Challenges for Peacekeeping", published by KAS and CEDIN in Portuguese and coordinated by Dr. Amina Guerra and Dr. Carla Volpini, was presented. The anthology contains articles on the current challenges of peacekeeping, with a focus on legal innovations in international law and the perceived hopelessness posed by Russia's war of aggression on Ukraine. Professor Amina Guerra spoke about the basic idea of the book during the launch and connected its contents to the issues that were subsequently taken up in the three-day course. CEDIN Executive Director and lecturer Mariana Bicalho and Luciana Diniz then addressed the concept of sovereignty and the challenges for climate justice.

The second day of the event was dedicated to new technologies, innovation, algorithms and data protection. The course units debated the social impact of new technologies and their connection with human rights.

The third and last day of the course focused on human and workers' rights. In this module, the participants dealt with the possibilities of reporting human rights violations and the functioning of national protection mechanisms for victims. Furthermore, the modern models of slavery were discussed on the basis of case studies.

The course was characterised by an excellent working atmosphere between the approximately 250 participants in online and face-to-face format and the lecturers, who actively exchanged their views and knowledge on the topics covered.
