On September 25th and 26th, the Alziras Institute, in partnership with KAS Brazil, held the II National Meeting of Women Mayors in the Brazilian capital. In a participatory format, the objectives of the meeting were training, sharing experiences and networking among municipal managers from all over Brazil. The seminar included modules such as the inclusion of women in municipal politics, the ecological transition in local governments, climate finance and the so-called care economy - a set of essential life-sustaining services that can be paid for or not.

The course was attended by 122 participants, more than double the 60 initially planned, with mayors from all five regions of Brazil and including authorities from the Ministry of the Environment, the Office of the Federal Controller General, the National Observatory for Women in Politics, the National Front of Mayors (FNP), Brazilian Association of Municipalities (ABM), National Forum of Women's Political Parties (FNIMPP), Observatory of political violence against women, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Racial Equality, Ministry of Agrarian Development, ECLAC Office in Brazil and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

The meeting was part of the GPúblicas Project, a multi-party space for training, exchange and articulation of women in politics and public management, which seeks to connect leaders for the development of public policy solutions; address the centrality of race and gender markers in all public policies; strengthen the institutional capacities of municipalities governed by women, in addition to disseminating good practices led by female mayors with a focus on resuming sustainable development after the pandemic.

During the event was shown the first episode of the PREFEITAS web series.
