Preventing and Managing Human Rights Violations (Family Law and Cadastral Law)

In the light of recent human rights violations in this sector, this training workshop provides an introduction to family and cadastral law to the committee. The prevention and management of Human Rights violations will be discussed.


Roles, Relations and Cooperation of Spokes Persons and Journalists

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organizes a training course on reporting, writing and local public relations in Siem Reap. Different aspects of journalists' work and press and media in general will be dealt with.


Training Workshop on “Youth and Politics”

This project by BfD, KAS and the youth organization of the Swedish KDU with funding from Forum Syd offers three training workshops for young members of the CPP, FUNCINPEC and SRP. The workshops will mainly focus on campaigning.

Establishment and Operation of Community Radio

KAS-partner BFD helps local monks and lay people with the establishment and running of six community radio stations. This workshop predominantly provides consultation and financial management to the monks running the stations.


Human Rights: Investigation and Reporting

In cooperation of KAS, CIM and the Senate Secretariat, a training for the staff in the Cambodian Senate is held by Dr. Jörg Menzel. Topics dealt with include Human Rights, Women's and Childrens' Rights and Land Rights issues.

Journalist Contest - Journalists’ Dedication

KAS-partner CCJ and LWF launch a journalist contest to promote reporting on rural topics. A jury will rate the reports and the winners will be rewarded with a total of 1.500 US-Dollar. Entry deadline to hand in the reports is August 29, 2008.


Journalist from the US to Train Cambodian Journalists

KAS-partner CCJ and IJF organize a training course for 22 Cambodian journalists. The training aims to give participants techniques and skills in reporting and writing. Margaret Freaney, an experienced journalist from the US will hold the course.


Round II Citizen Advisor Outreach on "Victim Participation and Witness Protection at the ECCC"

126 Citizen Advisors who received training at KID are transferring their knowledge to their local communities by conducting legal education workshops and assisting interested parties lodge an ECCC Victim Information Form to the ECCC.

If you’re buying a meal in Cambodia to takeaway you can expect to get a plastic box with food in it, a plastic set of cutleries all packed up in a plastic bag. Your drink is going to be in a plastic cup with a plastic straw which is wrapped in plastic. But that’s still not it, the plastic cup will be put in another small plastic bag for you to hold. So, it seems quite logical, that an average Cambodian household uses 12 plastic bags a day, doesn’t it? Almost half of them will be burnt later and the rest ends up in the sea. With one of the fastest growing economy and a growing consumer market, Cambodia is generating significant amounts of waste. Phnom Penh alone already produces 3000 tons of garbage per day and the issue of waste will be more important every day. The landfills are being filled up more and more and manmade waste mountains will be the norm. But as technologies are getting more and more advanced, many start-ups are coming up with new innovative ideas to counteract.

Multimedia journalists from all over Asia have produced a manual about mobile journalism. The online publication offers insights into this new storytelling method, explaining how reporters and newsrooms can produce good video reports by just using their phone.

KAS Media Study launched

Joachim Freiherr von Marschall, German Ambassador to Cambodia, held a captivating and valuable speech during KAS’ 12th Law Talk from 1st-3rd August 2014 in Sihanoukville. With his kind approval KAS is grateful to be able to publish his speech. It consists of an introduction to Germany’s role and development towards international criminal justice. Subsequently, the it provides an explanation and evaluation of the procedures of the Cambodian ECCC (Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia)and connects Cambodia and Germany in terms of their experiences with international criminal justice.
