On this incredible night, Lagos was host to 5 African journalists and storytellers. Hailing from Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and Ghana, these journalists competed in an electric showdown, taking the audience on a riveting journey through their various experiences as reporters. What a brilliant show of courageous, challenging and encouraging storytelling it was!
Congratulations to our new Slam Champion, Yaddah Wanjiku from Uganda, who impressed the audience in the room and worldwide through the livestream with her captivating storytelling.
A huge thank you to all of our Slammers for leaving everything on the stage, guiding our audience through a wide range of emotions - from joy and sadness, to suspense and victory. They have proven what it means to be a real journalist and what intense challenges one must face and overcome on the road to holding truth to power as a member of the Fourth Estate across the continent.
A special thank you to our moderator and founder of the Reporter Slam - Jochen Markett - for guiding us through this memorable evening.
The evening would not have been a success without the lively supoort of our hosts from Lagos who came out in their numbers to support journalism.
