The publication provides information on the democratic development of media systems in the countries of South East Europe by mapping patterns of corrupt relations and practices in media policy development, media ownership and financing, public service broadcasting, and journalism as a profession. In addition, it is a basis for further debates, consultations and coalitions among key actors in order to influence media reform processes.
The research project was led and coordinated by the Peace Institute Ljubljana, with Brankica Petković as a lead researcher, and Jovana Mihajlović Trbovc and Maja Ladić as research assistants. The following researchers and organisations took part in the project: Ilda Londo (Albanian Media Institute in Tirana), Sanela Hodžić (Media Center Sarajevo), Helena Popović (Investigative Journalism Centre, Zagreb), Snezana Trpevska and Igor Micevski (Macedonian Institute of Media) and Jovanka Matić and Dubravka Valić Nedeljković (Novi Sad School of Journalism).
The publication and the project are based on previous research and advocacy actions of the South East European Network for Professionalization of Media (SEENPM).
