The index, “Think Tanks and Civil Society Program (TTCSP)” commissioned by the University of Pennsylvania International Relations Program, launched the results of their newest international survey, at the World Bank in Washington, DC and in New York at the United Nations.
More than 1600 think tanks where nominated after an eight-month process involving almost 2000 scholars, politicians, journalists and other experts. Criteria, such as creative policy recommendations for decision makers, networking with the experts’ community and on the field of politics, publications and participation at social debates were crucial, as well as the reputation of the organizations among politicians and experts.
The American ‘Brookings Institute’, together with the British ‘Chatham House’ can present themselves for 2012 as “best Think Tank of the World.” The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung received the best rating among all of German political foundations.
